Ello is building a 1:1 AI reading tutor with custom speech models trained on 100K+ hours of child audio, sub-1-second latency, and real-time adaptive teaching. Building a 1:1 teacher was one of the original dreams of AI. It's finally possible. Building a 1:1 teacher means making real-time teaching decisions about a specific child, in under a second, on every turn. That's not a product you build by wrapping an LLM in a prompt. It requires a custom, low-latency AI stack, from child-specific speech perception to a hierarchical teaching agent, to expressive speech generation. We built it that way because the alternative of stitching together off-the-shelf components optimized for adults can't actually teach a child.
