Core

Everyone can build now; the bottleneck moved to the seams. Core is a workspace for teams of specialists, built for where their work meets. Everyone can build now. Bottleneck moved to the seams. Producing software got cheap. Turning a room of specialists into one coherent thing did not. Its legs shrank to hooks. It cannot take off from flat ground. In exchange it stays airborne for ten months without landing, feeding and sleeping on the wing. The most efficient body in the air, and useless on it. Specialization is not what the swift lost. It is what it bought. It never became good at everything. It became unmatched at one thing and let the rest go.
